By MICHAEL MIYOBA

THERE has been more drama in the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) with its general secretary Adrian Kashala sent on administrative leave.

This follows the confusion which saw the association docking three points from Young Green Eagles which were awarded to Nkana for the Kitwe outfit to survive relegation.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said the FAZ secretariat had no authority to deal and provide ruling for Nkana’s complaint on Young Green Eagles’ alleged use of an ineligible player, the suspension of Indeni Football Club coach Mwenya Chipepo and the suspension of Kashikishi Warriors for physically abusing match officials.

In a statement, Kamanga noted that the FAZ executive committee through the emergency committee convened a meeting on June 23, 2021 to deliberate on the cases and the secretariat was represented by Kashala.

Kamanga said the three cases which Kashala provided ruling for should have been referred to the relevant judicial bodies because the secretariat had no authority to provide ruling on the three cases. “The secretariat was directed to immediately inform the parties involved of the committee’s resolutions and further to immediately ensure that the relevant judicial bodies are provided with the matters for their immediate action so that decisions can be made prior to the conclusion of the season.

“The secretariat was also advised not to exercise powers that they do not have and ensure that they act within the confines of their authority,” Kamanga said.

He also noted that it is regrettable that the secretariat did not communicate the decisions of the Emergency Executive Committee meeting to all the concerned parties as guided.

“It was more regrettable that despite the committees having deliberated and communicated their decisions to the secretariat, the timing of the release of the statement was done at the time matches were in play,” Kamanga said.

Kamanga said all parties have the right to appeal the decisions within 14 days as provided for in the FAZ Statutes.
