By ROGERS KALERO

MY tears will not be in vain because God detests unfairness and vindictiveness which was exhibited in the nullification of my election as Kwacha Member by the Constitutional Court, former Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji has said.

Mr Malanji said nullifying his election as Kwacha MP on grounds that he had no Grade 12 certificate was a lame excuse by those using the courts to settle personal and political scores because he has a Grade 12 certificate which he used in 2016 and 2021 elections.

Mr Malanji was speaking yesterday after he attended mass at Blessed Anuarite parish of the Catholic Church in Chipata township of Kwacha constituency which was attended by PF officials who included Brian Mundubile, Davies Mwila, Richard Musukwa, Raphael Nakacinda, Alexander Chiteme, Kitwe Mayor Mpasa Mwaya, Lumezi MP Munir Zulu and provincial, district and constituency officials.

Mr Malanji, who donated K50, 000 to the choir, K20, 000 to assist the Women for Seminarian presentation and undisclosed amount for various works at the church, said despite his election being nullified in the most unfair way, he was set to retain it because the people in the constituency knew his capacity to deliver on his campaign promises.

“People should not tell you lies that my election was nullified because I don’t have a Grade 12 certificate. No. Do you think if I don’t have a Grade 12 certificate I could have stood in 2016 and 2021? I have the certificate and I will recontest the Kwacha constituency seat and I know I will retain it.

“Don’t listen to nonsense and lies from people that I will not stand. I have papers and I will stand. I can tell you that my tears will not dry in the soil or in the ground in vain because God detests unfair conduct and vindictiveness,” Mr Malanji said

And in his homily, Father Chrispin Katongo Mutale urged Christians to be honest, truthful and have faith in God because he delivers when it matters most and does not forget about his own children.

Father Mutale said those who are blessed with various responsibilities must do their best to serve the people, while being truthful, honest and being faithful to God.
