ZAMBIANS are looking up to President Hakainde Hichilema to solve and address the myriad of their problems and it will not do for the head of State to go back to 1972 in trying to explain the economic challenges the country had been going through, Bob Sichinga has said.
Mr Sichinga, the former Commerce and Trade Minister during the Michael Sata administration said there was nothing Zambians were going to do about what happened in 1972 because all they were expecting was President Hichilema to address the current economic problems.

Mr Sichinga said President Hichilema had promised Zambians during his campaigns that he had the solutions to the country’s social and economic problems and should therefore meet the people’s expectations.
He recalled that the head of State while in opposition told Zambians that he (President Hichilema) had connections worldwide and that once elected, he was going to use his networks to quickly resolve the challenges Zambians were facing. “Zambians are expecting President Hichilema to solve their social and economic problems because that is what he had promised them while in opposition. To go back to 1972, what are you going to do about it? We are here now and whatever problems that are there, the President should be able to address them. President Hichilema while in opposition told Zambians that he had connections and that he knew what to do with the problems Zambians were facing,” Mr Sichinga said.
He stated that President Hichilema had given Zambians optimism that he had an action plan which he was going to implement once elected and resolve the many challenges the country was besieged with.
Mr Sichanga said it indeed the head of State had an action plan to address the economic malaise of the country, he should not be tempted to take citizens to economic problems of 1972.
He explained that Zambians had nobody else they could address themselves to apart from President Hichilema whom they had voted for with the hope of having their lives improved.
“Front the way I see it, Zambians are looking up President Hichilema according to what he had promised, which was to solve their problems. Nobody else is going to address their challenges apart from the President, their own leader whom they elected,” Mr Sichinga said.
