‘Stop disrespecting top PF members’

By AARON CHIYANZO
THE syndrome of disrespecting senior officials in the Patriotic Front must be halted because it has potential to cause divisions, Mandevu constituency secretary Lemmy Bwalya has said.
Mr Bwalya warned that divisions would result in an embarrassing performance in the 2021 elections.
He observed that the trend where party members disrespected leaders was growing.
Mr Bwalya however said the trend was causing divisions in the party and that the Central Committee should stop it immediately.
“It started two years ago when the five constituency chairmen of Lusaka protested against Lusaka Members of Parliament. No action has been taken up to now. We’re seeing the trend repeating itself.
“First it was attacks on ministers Jean Kapata, Nkandu Luo, Lawrence Sichalwe and Margaret Mwanakatwe. Today it is youth chairman, Kelvin Sampa, tomorrow will may be Minister Freedom Sikazwe until it goes on and on until it will the President. I think it is now time for the central committee to halt the syndrome,” he said.
Mr Bwalya said with the 2021 elections around the corner, it was time for aggrieved members to be reconciled in order to unite the party.
“Where has the seed of discord come from? Where has this nature of disrespectful come from? Where have the fights come from?” he questioned.
Mr Bwalya warned that the opposition could take advantage of the squabbles that had engulfed the ruling party and lead to regrets in 2021.
“The prevailing situation in the party needs the attention of the party supreme organ, if we are to continue attracting masses of people joining the party.
“The party’s supreme organ should convene a meeting as soon as possible and seriously look at why members are fighting at a time they are supposed to unite. There must be something fishy.
“I also wish to ask the President to investigate why intra party elections in Mandevu should be tenser than the presidential elections,” he said.
Mr Bwalya said PF had already campaigned through massive developments and added that the rulig party should attract more members.
