FAZ gets FIFA windfall

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is expected to receive US$500, 000 (about K9.5 million) FIFA operational fund.
According to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, the world football governing body will release operational funds for 2019 and 2020 amounting to $150 million with each of the 211 members getting $500, 000 to help offset a portion of the economic loss caused by the coronavirus.
“The pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges for the entire football community and, as the world governing body, it is FIFA’s duty to be there and support the ones that are facing acute needs,” he said.
FAZ on Wednesday announced plans of a relief package to the 36 clubs in the Super Division and National League.
