ANDREW BANDA is a bitter and disoriented person who should not be taken seriously on any important national matter because whatever he utters is meant to advance UPND propaganda against Government, ZRP President Wright Musoma has said.
Reacting to sentiments by Mr Banda, who has been quoted in one of the daily tabloids, as saying the IMF refused to give Zambia debt relief due to serious corruption in the country, Mr Musoma said Andrew was a wrong person to comment on such an important matter.
He said Zambians should ignore misleading statement from the likes of Andrew because their only agenda was to embarrass the country to the outside world.
He said Government through the Finance Minister has already indicated and made it clear to the nation that the country did not apply for the said debt relief from the IMF, and it was therefore surprising that the opposition UPND through its surrogates were insisting on spreading lies about the issue.
Mr Musoma said Andrew, who is son of former republican President Rupiah Banda, was not in any position to analyze what was happening in the country and that it was important for him to remain quiet than embarrassing himself with false statements against his own country.
He said Zambia was enjoying a cordial relationship with the IMF and World Bank and therefore it was silly for anyone in his right mind to insinuate that IMF had refused to provide relief to the country.
Mr Musoma said it was sad that even at a critical time when the country was grappling with COVID 19 outbreak, some unpatriotic individuals in the like of Andrew Banda had continued to talk ill of the country.
“What good thing can you expect from a person like Andrew Banda who is on record of demeaning his own father, a person held in high esteem by not only Zambians but also the outside world,” he said.
