PATRIOTISM Pioneers Movement Zambia, a youth-led movement that has been promoting patriotism in the country by instilling a sense of civil consciousness in young people has called on youths to adhere to government measures to fight Covid-19.
Organisation secretary Lombe Mpabalwani said youths must show patriotism and adhere to the government measures.
“Patriotism is the major key that will help us fight this pandemic and Zambian young people who are the majority must show a sense of citizenship by working together with government of Zambia to help overcome this Covid-19,” he said.
“Patriotism Pioneers Movement which has a network of youths countrywide as show a sign of patriotism by ensuring that all youths contribute a token of commitment to help fight Covid-19,through this, the movement has done random supply or donations of hand sanitizers, masks to vulnerable young people in Lusaka and Copperbelt and some rural parts of Luapula.”
Lombe Mpabalwani said youths should ensure they don’t take this lightly as it is a danger zone and it requires all to get involved by following the measures put in place by the President Edgar Lungu through health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya.
Mpabalwani who is also a teacher said he is using his teaching skills to sensitize young people on how they can be safe from the pandemic by being patriotic and following the measures put in place.
“Amidst this period youths are urged to behave responsibly and see to it that they work together with the government because what government is doing is to protect our lives as youths hence it’s needed that we realize that Zambia depends on people. If there are no people then there is no Zambia,” he insists.
“Hence it’s necessary to ensure that we as youths fight this vice patriotically meaning we adhere to what’s put in place, stay home, avoid crowded places and so on.”
Mpabalwani further said that this is the time that youths must be involved by using various platforms to educate others and help them stay safe.
