‘Dangling’ masks irritating – DC

By MUYANI SHINJABALE
IT is irresponsible for anyone to remove masks and leave them dangling below their chins, Luanshya District Commissioner, Patrick Maipambe has said.
He said many people had developed the habit of moving around with masks dangling below their chins and only pulled them over their face after being reminded.
In an interview, Mr Maipambe noted with concern how a good number of individuals were removing masks immediately they left a bank or shop.
He also indicated that some individuals had also opted to not wear their masks despite carrying them and only wore them when someone confronted them.
He implored the public to ensure that they wore their face masks whenever they were away from their homes.
He also encouraged the residents to adhere to social distancing as well as practice high levels of hygiene.
Mr Maipambe said the security wings had entered the markets to enforce the law on wearing masks and washing of hands.
Meanwhile, Mufulira Central Member of Parliament, Evans Chibanda, has donated 3,000 bags of mealie meal and chitenge materials to the people of his constituency.
Dr Chibanda said he had lobbied for mealie meal from President Edgar Lungu so that people would have food as they stayed home.
He also promised to lobby for more Covid-19 prevention materials and more mealie meal.
