Violent cadres will be caged – Lusambo
By SANFROSSA MANYINDA
DAYS are numbered for perpetrators of violence as provocative campaigns will not be tolerated in Lufwanyama, Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt Mobilisation Coordinator Bowman Lusambo has warned.
Mr Lusambo has since called on the police to bring to book the culprits behind the attack on FP cadres at the weekend.
Some United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres attacked the PF on Saturday during the campaign In Lufwanyama district where five ward seats are up for grabs.
The Local Government by-elections would be held in Chibanga, Milopa, Kansanta, Luswishi and Mushingashi wards where UPND councillors ditched the opposition to join the PF.
Mr Lusambo warned that violence would not be tolerated ad urged the police to round-up all perpetrators so that they could be prosecuted.
“Such acts are retrogressive and goes against the tenets of national peace-building and development,” he said.
Mr Lusambo, who is also Kabushi Member of Parliament, said politicians should always encourage issue-based campaigns unlike what was seen on the ground.
He advised that political campaigns were supposed to be free of violence especially in a democratic country like Zambia.
“We therefore advise the UPND in the province to stop sponsoring cadres to attack PF supporters in Lufwanyama district,” he said.
The PF members who were injured were identified as Kenson Mulongoti, Jonatan Mwewa, Rodson Meleka and Paxa Chamina.
