By MICHAEL MIYOBA
CITY of Lusaka FC has officially unveiled former Angola and Botswana national team coach Veselin Jelusic as the new Yamoto head coach.

Jelusic takes over from George Kapembwa who helped City of Lusaka win promotion to the Eden University National Division One league after impressing during the provincial play offs last month.
The Serbian born-coach becomes the third European trainer to drill City of Lusaka after former Aston Villa and England national team striker John “Jackie” Sewell coached Yamoto in 1964, and Italian Roberto Landi.
And speaking after he was unveiled Jelusic, who was appointed Chipolopolo coach by FAZ before the Zambian government rejected his appointment through the Ministry of Sports in August last year said he was honoured to be named new City of Lusaka head coach.
Jelusic is confident he would achieve the set objectives at City of Lusaka because the club has a team of young players who are easy to work with.
“What attracted me the most to come to this club is its ambitious project to invest in the development of youth players and to promote them to help them reach a higher level of competition.
“It is not an easy task but we will try to work together to achieve what we want. I have been in Africa since 1991, I was in Angola for almost 10 years, in Botswana for eight years and in South Africa so I know pretty much about Zambian football and Zambian football is respected not only in Africa but also around the world,” said the Serbian.
Meanwhile, City of Lusaka general secretary Chomba Mumba urged the Serbian to help the team reclaim its lost glory.
Chomba said the unveiling of Jelusic as head coach symbolises the team’s determination to achieve greatness.
General manager Justine Palmer said Jelusic has signed a one year deal which will keep him at Woodlands Stadium until 2022.
Palmer said City is determined to achieve a balance of player development and success in terms of results.
He said the club will not sign star players who have already made a name for themselves but instead focus on developing young talent.
