THE summoning of the UPND president by the police was one of the antics which the PF was using to intimidate Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the party, UPND Copperbelt information and publicity secretary Lawrence Mwanza has said.
Mr Mwanza warned that the opposition party leader would not be intimidated.
He said the summoning of Mr Hichilema was meant to instill fear in the UPND ahead of the 2021 elections
“We will not be intimidated by PF tactics. Let the country know that the summoning of HH by Police is nothing but meant to instill fear in UPND as we go to the 2021 polls. What has HH done to warrant police summons?
“Going forward, each time you summon HH, you would have summoned the entire UPND membership because there is no law which forbids people from rallying behind their leader,” Mr Mwanza said. He added: ”Let the PF and police know that the HH they knew yesterday is not the same today. HH is the incoming President of Zambia and therefore should be given the respect he deserves. The UPND as a party will defend as president using whatever means available this time around.”
Mr Mwanza urged all UPND members to travel to Lusaka to offer solidarity to their leader because the PF was determined to ensure that the UPND leader does not appear on the ballot.
“We therefore call on all our members to find themselves in Lusaka to offer solidarity and defend HH because we know that the PF is determined to ensure our President does not appear on the ballot,” he said
He said the UPND would not tolerate the ranting from PF Copperbelt chairman Nathan Chanda, Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, and other PF leaders
“Mr Lusambo must accept the fact that Copperbelt is no longer a PF stronghold and that people are eagerly waiting to usher in UPND in government. This is a fact which makes Lusambo and Chanda to spend sleepless nights. This is evident by their hallucinations each time they open their mouth. “The UPND takes great exception to the insults showered on the Copperbelt Provincial Chairman Mr Matambo by Lusambo just for expressing solidarity with the incoming President HH following his summoning by police,” he said.
