THE drugs and condoms supplied by Honeybee must be subjected to independent tribunal for testing in order to ascertain whether they are defective or not, former Republican Vice President Enock Kavindele has said.
Mr Kavindele said the allegations leveled against the supplier were very serious which needed quick intervention.
He said many lives could have been affected after consuming the drugs and others could had contracted diseases after using defective condoms.
Mr Kavindele said in an interview that it was important that independent investigations were done to clear the minds of Zambians who were not at peace.
“This subject has been debated by the public and a number of issues have been said. Let me just say that this a serious matter.
My advice to government is that they need to put this matter before an independent tribunal so that it can be settled once and for all.
“It is important that the independent tribunal goes down to investigate this matter and take a thorough investigation because I can assure you that many people are not happy with what has been reported,” Mr Kavindele said.
The former Republican Vice President said, “Some people can even sue Ministry of Health for endangering their lives,” he said.
Mr Kavindele said before government got any law suits they need to take the route to undertake independent investigations.
This matter is extremely serious, he said, therefore government should not overlook it.
“It’s good that proper investigations are conducted,” Mr Kavindele said.
