Corrupt office seekers must be exposed – Lungu

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says those who are involved in corruption activities yet seeking public office must be exposed.

President Lungu has observed that those who are fond of accusing others of corruption are the ones who are actually corrupt.

“Those who shout wolf, wolf are the wolves themselves,” said President Lungu at State House yesterday.

The President said crying about corruption all the time was not helping to curb the vice unless names of those involved were exposed.

He shared the view that people had the right to know the names of those involved in the illegal sale of public properties.

The President wants serious investigations into the sale of the ZRCS buildings in Lusaka.  He was speaking during a virtual meeting with the Red Cross Society and their stakeholders.

Meanwhile, President Lungu, who is also the ZRCS patron has advised the society to find modalities on how best they can settle their debts with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and NAPSA.

The Red Cross owes K2 million to ZRA and over K3 million to NAPSA.

President Lungu said it was difficult for him to grant the society a debt relief because the money was required to finance the country’s social and economic projects.

And ZRCS president Frackson Ngosa said itwas in debt because of gross mismanagement of resources.

President Lungu has however commended the society for its humanitarian efforts towards Zambians.
