Nawakwi is bitter – UPND

By NOEL IYOMBWA

EDITH Nawakwi is bitter with UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema because she was not chosen leader of the United Democratic Alliance in 2006, UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has said.

Mr Mweetwa said Ms Nawakwi had a history of hatred against Mr Hichilema and that it was written in black and white.

He was reacting to accusation by the FDD leader that Mr Hichilema was corrupt and fighting to become President to protect his wrong doing.

Mr Mweetwa however said UPND did not understand Ms Nawakwi’s agenda but that the party was left to think that her hatred dated back to 2006 when different political parties formed an alliance and Mr Hichilema was chosen as leader.

On Saturday, Ms Nawakwi had a press briefing where she said Mr Hichilema wants to become President to cover up his fraudulent activities.

Ms Nawakwi produced a deed transfer purporting to have been signed by the administrator of a farm under contestation, Feluna Hatembo, but the administrator denied ever conveying the land to HH nor receiving any money for the land.

Ms Nawakwi said the complainants might have been forced to make a statement that they will not appeal against a High Court ruling related to how the UPND leader repossessed their farm in Kalomo.

This is a matter in which an administrator to the estate of Mr Samson Siatembo, Ms Feluna Hatembo, sued Mr Hichilema in the Lusaka High Court pointing out the fraudulent manner in which Farm No 1924 of Kalomo was bought.

Mr Mweetwa however said Ms Nawakwi was only attacking Mr Hichilema because she wanted to be the leader of the alliance but instead Mr Hakainde was chosen.
