I will begin my tour of duty by establishing of a skills training centre in the constituency for trade tested courses, Kamfinsa MP Christopher Kang’ombe has said.

He said the centre would be beneficial to youths who were roaming the streets because of limited capacity to get into entrepreneurship nor to get jobs.

Mr Kang’ombe said he was working with the Kitwe City Council to identify land for the project and would also involve the Ministry of Youth Sport and Child Development to endorse the project.

He said he would not only end up at skills training, but also use his connections to link the graduates to industry for possible job and business opportunities.

“Every long journey starts with a single step and I can tell you that one of my focus areas as I begin my tour of duty as Kamfinsa MP is the establishment of a first ever skill training centre in the Constituency for short trade tested courses.

“We will not end at just skills training, but also find a way of linking up the graduates to industry for possible job and business opportunities. It sounds long term but we have to start the planning now,” Mr Kang’ombe said

The MP also said a few other key stakeholders had been identified and will receive their proposal for their input.

Mr Kang’ombe said he would strive to empower youths and women through practical cooperatives and lobby for employment opportunities in the local industry and also enhance community sports activities in all the wards.

He said he would lobby for expanding infrastructure like healthy institutions which needed urgent attention especially with the growing population.

Mr Kang’ombe said there was need to expand some clinics into mini hospitals because of the increasing population which needed better and bigger infrastructure.

“I have pledged to work on expanding or building clinics in various parts of the constituency to a mini hospital stand. This will be done through lobbying relevant ministries of the government,” he said
