INSINUATIONS by the United Party for National Development (UPND) that the PF has already rigged the general elections proves that they are not ready because they do not have the numbers, says PF Secretary- General, Davies Mwila.

UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma said in an interview that the elections were already rigged owing to the manner in which the voter registration and national registration card issuance exercises were conducted.

Mr Kakoma said in an interview that the rigging of elections by the PF started long before the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) embarked on the voter registration exercise.

Mr. Kakoma alleged that the rigging started with the insuance of the National Registration Cards (NRCs) because the ECZ did not capture most of the first time voters and those who lost the national document.

But Mr. Mwila refuted those allegations saying the UPND have not been ready for the forthcoming polls hence the accusations that the ruling PF has already rigged the elections.

He said in an interview with the Daily Nation that the PF has not rigged the elections and have no plans of doing so because they have the numbers to win the August elections.

“We have not rigged the election, the UPND are saying so because they have not been ready for the elections, they don’t have the numbers,” he said.

And Mr. Mwila said while the UOND were busy celebrating the fall of Bill 10, the PF was busy mobilizing people to acquire the National Registration Cards (NRCs) and they succeeded in pulling the numbers.

He further said as the ruling party, they had engaged all political parties on the need for them to ensure that their numbers acquired the NRCs in order for them to be able to register as voters because the two are national programs.

“The UPND don’t have the numbers because they were busy celebrating the fall of Bill 10 but as we were on the ground mobilizing our members to have the NRCs and to register as voters,” he said.
