TWO UNPD area councilors from Kawambwa district and Nampundwe have resigned and joined the ruling Patriotic Front party and pledge to pay total allegiance.
Speaking when he received defectors in Wayaya area yesterday, PF media director Sunday Chanda said the party is happy that PF remains Zambia’s number party of choice and it was the only party that can provide the future for Zambians.
Mr Chanda said the defecitions from the opposition political parties was gratifying especially from the UPND strong hold.
Mr Chanda said the two civic leaders have realised and seen the importance of working with PF Government which has good intension for the country.
“We know that Luapula is our bedroom and Nampundwe is a strong hold for the UPND, but we are glad that an elected official has decided to resign and join the PF which has good policies and they want to be part of decision making,” said Mr Chanda.
Meanwhile, Nampundwe ward councilor Eucridy Mwiinga said he will ensure that he worked with President Edgar Lungu and his Government in ensuring that people benefited from the national cake by talking development in all parts of the country.
Mr Mwiinga said it was sad that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema could associate the dry spill to PF Government, therefore he will pay allegiance to the head of State.
He said despite efforts being done by Government to accelerate development, the ward has not received any funds from Constituency Development Funds (CDF) since last year in April and CDF committee has not yet been constituted.
“I am resigning from my position as area councilor for Nampundwe ward on moral ground and I am doing this for the betterment of Nampundwe people and I am ready to work and stand on the PF ticket if they decide to adopt me,” said Cllr Mwiinga.
Meanwhile, Ntumbachushi ward councilor Joseph Chiwele commended President Lungu for allowing them to join the party.
Mr Chiwele said people of Kawambwa district have seen massive development by the PF Government, therefore he decided to work with the party which had good policies for the Zambian people.
Cllr Chiwele who is also vice youth chairman politics said he could no longer continue work with UPND party because it did not recognise President Lungu.
“I can no longer continue working with UPND party which has refused to recognise President Lungu as well as preaching about Presidential petition and they are people who cannot appreciate the development,” Cllr Chiwele.
