4 deny intercepting trucks laden with Mukula logs

FOUR youths alleged to have intercepted 21 trucks laden with Mukula logs in Shimabala area on the Lusaka-Kafue highway yesterday pleaded not guilty in the Lusaka Magistrates’ court to one count of theft contrary to the laws of Zambia.
The quartet appeared before Magistrate Ruth Kapulo for plea.
In this matter, it is alleged that on December 29th 2018, Venny Musonda, 29, Augustine Mukuka, 29, Robson Chipili, 30, and Fanny Zimba 34, all businesspersons of Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together did steal K17, 000, USD 1, 300 and a cellphone altogether valued at K36, 000 the property of ZAFFICO.
The court has set March 7th and 9th 2018 as trial dates as the accused’s police bond have been extended.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy of Nakushowa farm in Lusaka West has changed his plea of not guilty to guilty on one count of breaking into a building and stealing a parrot worth K4, 000 the property of Exotic Farm.
In this matter, it is alleged that the juvenile offender on December 10th 2017 in Lusaka did break and enter into a building namely, poultry at Exotic Farm and stole the Parrot valued at K4, 000, the property of the said Exotic Farm.
The boy who appeared before magistrate Albert Mwaba told the court that he took the parrot because he wanted to play with it and it flew away after biting him.
After recording a plea of guilt, the court has set February 6th 2018, for facts and social welfare report.
