SHODDY investigations by the police is the main cause why court cases involving persons against the State are ending up into acquittals, says Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma

The ZRP leader said that it was worrying that the State was losing court cases to the opposition because of the inefficiency by the investigative wings.

Mr Musoma said that it was a shame that investigative agencies were proving to be inefficient, following the number of acquittals witnessed in the recent past.

He wondered why tangible court cases were ending up into acquittals on account that the prosecution team had failed to produce enough evidence.

Mr Musoma said in an interview with the Daily Nation that it was a big disappointment on the part of investigative wings and that they were denting the image of the State.

He pointed out that it was because of the inefficiency by the investigative wings that the State was being accused of instigating arrests of suspects affiliated to opposition political parties.

Mr Musoma advised Government to open its eyes because he strongly suspected the cartel had infiltrated the investigative service in the country.

“It is not normal how these acquittals have been happening, the State should open its eyes.

These acquittals also strongly expose the inefficiency of our investigative wings. It shows they are not doing their jobs right, or maybe they just want to embarrass Government?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, Mr Musoma advised the ruling Patriotic front (PF) to be wary and calculative of all schemes of the cartel.

He warned that the cartel had many gimmicks with regard to influencing decisions, just to ensure that they advanced their agenda to advance propaganda.

Mr Musoma reiterated that the laissez-faire attitude towards work among some public servants was questionable.

“It is as if some of these public servants just want the State to fail so that they help the cartel to advance propaganda. How else then can some explain this laissez-faire attitude we have been seeing among public servants,” he wondered.

Mr Musoma also advised President Lungu to monitor the performance of some of his ministers who have been quiet on a number of pressing issues.
