“The former World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion Catherine Phiri will fight Matshidiso Mokebisi from South Africa. The tournament will take place in Ndola on 29th of July 2017,” Malunga Said.
“We are also working on Charles Manyuchi’s next opponent, we will announce once contractual agreement is agreed by both parties,” he added.
The July fights will be the first for Manyuchi and Catherin after losing their WBC tittles on March 25 and April 1 respectively.
Catherine Phiri lost her WBC World female bantamweight title to Mexican Mariana Juarez in a tightly contested fight at the Arena Zócalo in Mexico City.
The defeat became Catherine’s second out of her 14 career fights.
The first lose on split point’s was on May 2, 2015 to Christina McMahon in an interim WBC world female bantamweight bout at Mulungushi international conference center in Lusaka.
Meanwhile Catherin’s defeat to Mariana Juarez came barely a week after Zimbabwean born Oriental Quarries Boxer Charles Manyuchi lost his WBC welterweight world silver title.
Manyuchi’s defeat came through a technical knockout to Qudratilo Amduqaxorov of Uzibekistan in Singapore.
The 1.52 seconds first round knockout marked the end of Manyuchi’s era as the WBC welterweight champion status.
