DO NOT get excited because those prophets you are parading to sponsor you will demand for their money when they realise that you are not a viable political project worth funding, Southern Province PF deputy secretary Leonard Siachona has cautioned politicians.

Mr. Siachona told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday the PF was aware that a named politician had financial help from a named prophet who had not only misled him into believing that he would be the next president of Zambia but had also offered to fund his campaigns for the 2021 elections.

He said it was sad that some politicians could sink so low as to allow themselves be misled that they could win a presidential election when their popularity hardly went beyond a constituency.

He warned that such decisions made out of excitement would boomerang after the funder realises that the candidate was not in a viable business.

He said it was unfortunate that the desire to becoming president had insanely driven some former PF members into believing that prophets could make them win a presidential election even when they had a fragile political backbone as their prominence was only facilitated by the PF.

“It is interesting how some people are so drunk with the desire for power that they have allowed themselves to be misled by prophets that they would be the next president even when their following hardly goes beyond a constituency.

“This is testimony that there have been people envying President Edgar Lungu’s position even when they pretended to be loyal to him when they served in his Cabinet.

“There can never be greater desperation than this where people fail to think straight to question themselves as to where the votes which will make them president will come from. Honestly, how can a prophet who does not even vote tell you that you will win an election and you believe?

“These prophets can even fund you but for how long will they do that? These open-ended financial agreements will one day boomerang on beneficiaries and they must be prepared to pay back,” Mr. Siachona said.
