‘‘We will work hard and ensure that we change the tide of the result in the Confederation Cup match on Sunday against Zesco United,’’ says Enugu Rangers striker Daniel Etor.

Nigerian top flight side Enugu Rangers will host Zesco on Sunday in the Confederation Cup pre-group stage first leg.

Etor is quoted by Goal.com Nigeria as saying a break from the local league games will assist the team to prepare adequately for Zesco.

“It is ideal that we go on break from the league matches to focus on Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup tie with Zesco United. I believe this break will enable us to clear our heads and think of a solution.

‘‘It has been a season we don’t ever bargain for but we can’t rule ourselves out of nothing yet,” he said.

He said the game against Zesco United was crucial as the team needed to win at home.

“Zesco is not a small team, for them to reach this far it’s because they are a good side,” he said.

Enugu Rangers are bottom of the Nigerian premier league table with 13 points from 14 games although they have three games in hand.

Meanwhile, Zesco United defender David Owino is targeting to be among the nominees for the 2017 CAF African player of the year.

According to Zesco United website, Owino is among the influential defenders enjoying his third season at the club.

He said he was focused on helping the club to achieve the set target of winning all the competitions.

“I feel we have the ability to win honours and even the Confederations Cup. We have a lot of strong teams both in the league and Confederations Cup, meaning there will be a lot of competition but we are a strong team too and we are in these competitions to win.

‘‘All we need is to work hard and not lose the team spirit that has built us over the past years,” he said.

Club media and public relations officer Katebe Chengo said Zesco will leave today   for  Nigeria at 15∶30 hours aboard Ethiopian Airways from Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola.
