THE visitation of Kafue Steel Plant by the two foreign Heads of State will attract appropriate foreign direct investments which is important for creation of wealth and the much needed employment in Kafue and Zambia at large, says Kafue District Commissioner Joseph Kamana.

Mr Kanama said once industrialization efforts by the government are achieved, it will create demand for specialized labour demand, which would in turn assist in reduction of high poverty and employment levels especially among youth in Zambia.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Kamana said the visitations of Kafue district by the two different foreign head of states in a space of less than two months was a clear indication that President Lungu was dedicated to develop and create more employment for the people of Kafue and Zambia at large.

He recounted how Mr Faure Gnassingbé, the President of Togo also visited Kafue during his official visit to Zambia in May.

On Tuesday this week during his two day State Visit, Rwanda President Paul Kagame with his counterpart President Edgar Lungu toured the Kafue Steel Plant before he headed back to his country.

The Rwandan President, upon touring the Universal Mining and Chemical Industries Limited (UMCIL) said he was impressed with the Zambian government strides in achieving industrial growth.

Mr Kagame praised Zambia’s industrialization drive as one that will greatly benefit Zambia and Africa.

And commenting on the Rwandan and Togolese Presidents, Kafue DC said the visits would open up the markets to the outside world to invest in Zambia and also to partner with the existing steel plant in Kafue.

“We are grateful to the President (Lungu) for inviting these Presidents because this is a second president after the Togolese President’s visit in May.

“This signifies the vision for development of Kafue as an industrial hub in line with President Lungu’s inaugural speech.

“It is an indication that President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is now actualising declaration of Kafue as an iron and steel zone, “Mr Kamana said.

He said when investors were wooed into his district, more jobs for the locals would be created resulting in boosting the economic status of the district.
