EMBATTLED Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili was a corrupt and untrustworthy person for refusing to pay back money he obtained illegally as the Courts have ordered, says New Revolution Party president Cosmo Mumba.
Mr Mumba said Mr Kambwili has refused to pay back money he obtained when he worked as a Cabinet minister sworn in by President Edgar Lungu when he worked through the 90 days campaign period leading to the 2016 general elections.
And Zambia Republican Party president Wright Musoma says President Lungu was right in dismissing Kambwili because he has no leadership quality.
Mr Musoma said refusing to pay back money obtained as minister as ordered by the court was a true revelation of the dishonest character he was.
Dr. Mumba reminded Mr Kambwili that when the President suggested the same thing, Kambwili was vehemently opposed to the same idea that he is today embracing.
He explained that Mr Kambwili has continually accused the PF Government of corruption and dishonesty since he left Government, but that his announcement to refuse to follow a court order only proved that he was a thief who had stolen public money.
“Mr Kambwili was a minister saving under what the court says was an illegal cabinet, so if he is accusing the government of being corrupt and not abiding by the law, because if he is genuine, he is not corrupt and he wants to help the people so if he says he is not going to pay, then he is a thief,” Dr Mumba said.
He explained that the money ordered to pay back were obtained under the umbrella of Government and as a Cabinet Minister and must therefore follow the court order. And Mr Mumba said Mr Kambwili had misplaced loyalties as he has refused to cease to be MP on PF ticket through the courts, which meant his allegiance was to Republican President who was also PF party president. He said until he was fired, Mr Kambwili was a Cabinet Minister sworn in by President Lungu, and must therefore follow the directives from the President.
“Mr Kambwili has just become confused because we do not know who he pays allegiance to, whether it is NDC or PF, whether it is the Government of the Republic of Zambia, or whether it is Parliament, we do not know. “The same Mr Kambwili has refused to cease to be MP on PF ticket, which means his President is Edgar Lungu. So if he chooses not to recognise President Lungu, then where is his allegiance?
