WHY is Chishimba Kambwili accusing President Lungu of corruption when he is the one facing the Anti-Corruption Commission,” Government Spokesperson, Kampamba Mulenga has asked.
“It is not the President who is before the Anti-Corruption Commission, it is him (Mr. Kambwili). My advice to Honourable Kambwili is that ‘if you have enough evidence against the President you know where to take it,” Ms. Mulenga, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, said.
Why is Chishimba Kambwili speaking against the PF and President Lungu after being fired as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services when he had an opportunity to do so when he was part of the government?” she asked.
In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Ms. Mulenga said it was typical of Mr. Kambwili to make wild allegations of corruption against President Lungu when the former minister knew so well that the Head of State was a lawyer by profession before assuming the republican presidency.
“Our President was a lawyer by profession before he became a deputy minister, before he became a cabinet minister and Republican President. If there is anyone who has been soldiering against corruption, it has been His Excellency the President.
She added: “We don’t want to hear this rhetoric, we are tired of hearing it. Is the President before the Anti-Corruption Commission? The way Honourable Kambwili is coming out only shows that he is bitter against the President. Let him produce evidence because our President has not been lying idle. He was a lawyer and what do lawyers do? Do they not go to work and make money?”
“My advice to Zambians is that Honourable Kambwili served in this government. He claims to be part and parcel of the formation of the PF. If he had found anything wrong with the PF, then he should have spoken out. He shouldn’t have waited to speak out after he was fired.
And New Congress Party (NCP) president Peter Chanda said it was political suicide for Mr. Kambwili to want to behave as if he was equal to President Lungu.
Pastor Chanda said Mr. Kambwili should take a leaf from crestfallen politicians who thought they were more powerful than the sitting Head of State.
“Today Miles Sampa is on record advising Honourable Kambwili to tone down and learn. Arrogance does not lead anywhere and pride comes before a fall. If Honourable Kambwili thinks that he has enough political muscle to match that of President Lungu, let him just accept his expulsion from the PF and meet the ruling party in the political battlefield,” he said.
