By BENNIE MUNDANDO

CHISHIMBA Kambwili and Gregory Chifire have taken political commentator Chanoda Ngwira to task, threatening to sue him over the leaked information regarding the purported meeting between them last week.

This meeting was aimed at bailing Mr. Chifire out over his impending legal battle with Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela.

Last week, Mr. Ngwira shared a post in one of the WhatsApp groups which read: “HK and Chifire in panic mode as Chifire awaits to be served with summons for his unfounded lies against Minister Chitotela. Kalaba, Chishimba and Chifire himself are set to meet tomorrow to find a remedy. The trio are scheduled to meet tomorrow at some lodge in Lusaka to plan on how they can make Chifire run away.”

Mr. Chifire immediately responded saying: “Ba Chanoda, I have never met those people you are referring to. That’s cheap propaganda. You know that this issue of summons will never happen. You keep on singing the same song. It’s now been over a week. Don’t dare me to go ballistic on more. What I revealed is a tip of an iceberg.

“Please don’t waste time, bring the summons. After all, your lawyer called last week (and) I told him where to drop the summons (but) up to now, he has not. Don’t divert people’s attention, I am here, I can’t run away, I still stand by what I said, and I even have more, its game on.”

But Mr. Ngwira on Friday told the Daily Nation that on Saturday night, Mr. Chifire called him and insisted he was the one who leaked details of the supposed meeting to plan the way forward after Mr. Chitotela threatened to sue him and accused him of being used by Mr. Chitotela whom he accused of acquiring motor vehicles in a corrupt manner through the Road Development Agency (RDA).

“Mr. Chifire called me and accused me of being used by Mr. Chitotela and that I was the one behind the write-up which was posted in some social media alleging that a meeting had been arranged between him and Mr. Kambwili to find a bail out mechanism for the impending legal battle with Mr. Chitotela.

“I told him that no one was using me and that it was wrong for him to point an accusing finger at me simply because I shared the said post in the WhatsApp group to which he is a member and I advised him not to waste his time bickering with me but to channel his energies towards providing evidence over the legal suit he is facing from Mr. Chitotela,” Mr. Ngwira explained.

He said barely a minute after an altercation with Mr. Chifire, Mr. Kambwili called him and threatened to sue him over the same WhatsApp posting.

“He called me and told me he was going to sue me because I had circulated information that he was preparing a way out for Mr. Chifire and I asked him how many times he was going to sue me since not long ago, reports were all over the media that he had dragged me to court for defamation and also got a court order to restrain me from commenting on anything to do with him.

“I asked him why he had forgotten all that had happened just over a week ago but as usual went hyper but I am not scared. If they have evidence that I generated that post, let them go ahead and sue me,” he said.
