By PRINCE CHIBAWAH

A Land row has erupted in the Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka where senior officials have refused to succumb to pressure by some party officials to engage in illegal land allocations.

This follows a vote of no confidence against PF Lusaka province chairman, Horace Longwe and provincial youth chairman, Kennedy Kamba signed by seven Lusaka based PF district chairmen and 11 constituency chairmen addressed.

The letter of vote of no confidence, stemming from the duo’s seeming refusal to engage in dubious allocation of land,  has been addressed  to PF secretary general, Davies Mwila.

“We hereby tender our vote of no confidence in them (Mr Longwe and Mr Kamba) due to their conduct that amounts to betrayal on their party. Party members recall that on their own volition they invited us to benefit from the ongoing land empowerment exercise.”

They stated that they were shocked that Mr Longwe and Mr Kamba had made a U-turn after making progress to assist them over the matter.

“We will not dwell on their motive of backtracking but rather inform you our Secretary General that we no longer have confidence in the two, as they have clearly shown that they can’t stand for us and therefore we doubt their leadership,” read the letter.

Chongwe district PF chairman, Jonas Luputa, Nsunge Simon of Chilanga, Kafue district chairman, Simukanzye Kelvin together with his Lusaka counterpart, Stafford Kayame signed the letter.

Others are Rufunsa chairman, Christopher Zulu, Shibuyunji’s Moses Chilindi and Luangwa district chairman, Eunie Mumba, among others.

But Mr Longwe and Mr Kamba have maintained that they will not allow PF district officials to obtain the same land without following the right procedure.

The two officials have maintained that they would not entertain any form of illegality within or outside the party.

Mr Longwe and Mr Kamba warned those who would be involved in illegal allocation of the land in question which is located in Chongwe district.

“Following the meeting we had with stakeholders it has come to our attention that the same land belongs to the state and the acquisition of the same land requires specific procedures with the ministry of Land.”

“The office of the Provincial chairman and that of the youth chairman will not be held accountable and it is not supporting illegal activities related to the same said land,” reads part of  the letter signed by Mr Longwe and Mr Kamba and addressed to all PF officials in Lusaka.
