THERE is need for us to resolve our differences within the party structures amicably rather than rushing to the media to air our grievances because by doing so, we are exposing ourselves to the enemy, PF has urged youths on the Copperbelt.
Provincial youth chairperson Nathan Chanda told the Daily Nation yesterday that the provincial youth leadership had noted with dismay, deteriorating levels of discipline among some youths who had taken pride in rushing to the media to air their views while disregarding laid down procedures for resolving differences.
Mr. Chanda said there was need for youths to give respect to the party leadership by seeking its indulgence on issues they were aggrieved on, adding that dialogue was the only way that would unite the party rather than washing dirty linen in public because engaging in such would divide the party.
“I wish to direct all youth party members in the province to stop rushing to the media and air out party grievances which can be sorted out internally. I am appalled by the recent acts of some of our members especially youths who quickly rush to the media. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. You cannot wash dirty linen in public.
“I am warning all youth to desist from this before the party decides to take necessary disciplinary measures. PF is a party of discipline and order and thus, we expect our youths to act in a similar manner,” Mr. Chanda said.
He said youths on the Copperbelt had a huge task of helping President Edgar Lungu deliver according to the PF’s manifesto and campaign message in last year’s election and warned that those who were waging unnecessary fights in the party should immediately stop or they would be dealt with decisively.
“It is high time we begin to show levels of discipline and respect for the leadership and elders. Let us focus on building the party and lead by example as youths from the ruling party.
“Why should a few individuals fight to divide the party and attempt to paint it black? These actions bring the name of the party into disrepute.
“As youths from the ruling party, we have a duty to help President Lungu and all elected leaders deliver to the Zambians. We should not let petty issues occupy us at the expense of participating in national development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chanda has warned youths who were using the name of the party to engage in illegal land deals, saying those who will be found perpetrating the vice would be dealt with accordingly.
