— donated medical equipment to aid cholera fight

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

GOVERNMENT has commended the two Zambian companies, Delta Energy limited and Nerias investment limited that donated medical equipment and supplies for cholera treatment centre worth K2 million.

Speaking when the two companies made the donations at the Ministry of health in Lusaka, minister in the office of the vice President Sylvia Chalikosa said the donation would go a long way in fighting cholera.

The donated items include emergency trolleys, thermometers, BP machines, infusion pumps, diagnostic sets, nebulizers, syringe pumps, cardiac monitors, suction machines, ventilators, etc.

Ms Chalikosa said the medical items donated and delivered at Heroes stadium would strictly be used at the cholera center.

She praised the two local companies for the gesture and appealed to other companies to emulate Delta Energy Zambia limited and Nerias investment limited.

And Delta energy corporate affairs manager Bertha Kalongelwa said the two local companies decided to donate as a way of giving back to the community. She said the two companies felt duty bound to provide help to its own country in times of disaster like this one as the outbreak of cholera was not only impacting negatively on government but also on the companies’ businesses. Ms Kalongelwa also reaffirmed her companies’ continued support to the government and the people of Zambia through donations.  “It’s important to any country to be able to find solutions to its own problems and it’s up to the business community to assist the country in times such as this one. As local companies, Delta energy and Nerias investments limited we decided to make these donations worth K2 million and will continue to provide support to the challenges and problems that face our country,” she said.
