MP WARNS FOREIGNERS

MATERO Member of Parliament, Lloyd Kaziya has declared war on crooked foreigners and establishments that want to turn his constituency into a breeding ground for illicit activities.

Mr Kaziya is not happy that illicit activities involving minors as well as rampant illegal constructions are all happening under his watch. He has vowed to mount a battle in collaboration with the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to restore sanity in his constituency.

The MP,  has maintained that he was not afraid of anyone and illegal gates erected on public roads in Lusaka’s Emmasdale area by foreign nationals will all be demolished immediately  there is guidance from the Attorney General, “to whom we have already written to render legal advice.”

And Mr Kaziya warned that he would not take kindly to foreign nationals trying to turn his constituency into a breeding ground for illicit activities.

A scourge was recently exposed where bars owned by foreigners are used as sex dens for minors in Lusaka’s Florida Street commonly known as “Devil Street” in Emmasdale area.

The minister told the Daily Nation that he was not going to take kindly to  foreign nationals residing or trading within the constituency, who did not
respect the law.

Mr Kaziya reiterated that his office would work with the council to ensure that all those involved in illegal activities within the area were flushed out.

“We will not take kindly to foreign nationals involved in illicit activities in my constituency. We are working hand in hand with LCC to ensure that there is sanity in my area,” he said.

Mr Kaziya, who is Water, Sanitation and Environmental Protection minister said that he would not give up on the fight against foreign nationals who had erected gates on public roads.

“I can’t give up on that fight, those gates must be brought down. We are just waiting for feedback from the Attorney General, he was written to for advice.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Zambia Police and LCC Police, accompanied by Matero Ward 23 Councillor, Annie Chinyata last Saturday night swooped on Florida Street, and arrested over 50 minors who were found at East Life bar.

Most of the minors, some of them as young as eleven years old and indecently dressed, were picked from the bars around 21:00 hours.
