MUSICIAN, Chama Fumba, also known as Pilato , who skipped the country has yet again delayed the start of a court case in which he is charged with five others for disobeying lawful orders.
This is the case in which Pilato on a self imposed exile, and five others are charged with disobeying lawful orders failed to take off yesterday at the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court as one of the accused persons because the musician has fled to South Africa.
However, Laura Miti appeared with four other accused persons, Lewis Mwape, PEP president Sean Tembo, activists Bornwell Mwewa and Mwika Mwambazi for plea before magistrate Mwaka Mikalile.
The 6 accused persons are being represented by defence lawyer Keith Mweemba.
In this matter, Fumba and five others were arrested on September 29 2017 after they allegedly defied police directives not to go ahead with the protests over the purchase of the fire trucks during the presentation of the national budget at the Zambia National Assembly.
The matter has since been adjourned to February 5 2018 for plea as their police bonds have been extended.
Meanwhile, the case involving four United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres charged with two counts of being in possession of offensive weapons failed to take of yesterday as the exhibits were not present at the time of the case.
In this matter, Remmy Mukoba, Kelvin Mupulisa, Fabian Lubona and Martin Muchindu are charged with two counts of being in possession of offensive weapons.
It is alleged that, the four, on April 25 2017, in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together, had in their possession offensive weapons.
There were a bow and three arrows, two plastics of potassium permanganate and one plastic bottle of glycerin.
The matter came up before magistrate Silvia Munyinya for cross examination of the arresting officer, Aubrey Hamwene, who arrested the four accused persons and had testified that he had submitted the said samples to UTH for examination.
He testified that apart from what he submitted to UTH for examination, there were other items that were ceased from the four accused persons which included a bow and 3 arrows, 8 UPND flyers, 1 Mega phone, a container, and other items.
The matter has been adjourned to February 9, 2018.
