PROPHET Shepard Bushiri’s business interests in Zambia should be investigated following revelations that his church in Botswana has been closed and accounts frozen owing to illegalities, Zambia Republican Party president Wright Musoma has demanded.
And Mr Musoma has apologised to the South African-based prophet for alleging that he enticed a Zambian minister to resign and position himself for the Presidency.
Mr Musoma reiterated that in as much as prophet Bushiri had the right to invest in Zambia, his business interests should be cleared following the closure of his church, the Enlightened Christian Gathering in neighbouring Botswana.
Mr Musoma said that confirmation by the Botswanan government that the controversial prophet’s church was closed after violating that country’s laws despite being warned to stop the practice of “miracle money,” was a source of concern.
He emphasised the need to look into the business operations of the prophet, especially with rumours that he owned a mine, as well as other businesses in Zambia.
Mr Musoma also challenged prophet Bushiri to explain why his church was involved in illegalities when it was warned to respect laws in Botswana.
“Information reaching us that prophet Bushiri’s church in Botswana was closed because of ‘miracle money’ issues. We hear the prophet has a mine in Zambia and other business dealings. In as much as there is no problem him investing in Zambia, we have to see to it that the dealings are clean,” Mr Musoma said.
Meanwhile, Mr Musoma apologised to prophet Bushiri over remarks that the prophet had enticed a politician to resign and position himself for Presidency.
He said that it was good that the prophet did not see leadership qualities in the named politician to have enticed him to resign.
Mr Musoma explained that being a leader of one of the political parties, he had intelligence that the prophet had prophesied the politician’s fate.
Efforts to get comment from the prophet proved futile as he could not be reached by press time.
