THE Patriotic Front has been advised to put Lambas in their district executive committees and other party structures in the area to avoid making them feel sidelined.
Chieftainess Shimukunami of the Lamba people of Lufwanyama district on the Copperbelt to PF secretary general, Davis Mwila yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on her.
“Am not being tribal, but what am telling you is what is on the ground. So consider having Lambas on the district executive so that they feel that they are part of the PF, especially that this area is an opposition area,’ she said.
On the issue of putting Lambas in the district executive, Mr Mwila said the current district executive committee was an interim one, saying a permanent one would be put in place when the elections are held.
And Chieftainess Shimukunami is also concerned that a number of developmental projects in her chiefdom have stalled.
The Chieftainess said she was saddened that developmental projects like the construction of houses for civil servants and road rehabilitation works had come to a standstill without any explanation from the government.
Mr Mwila visited the chieftainess before holding a meeting with PF district and constituency officials on the Copperbelt at Lufwanyama boarding school.
“Am grateful that you have come to pay a courtesy call on me before holding a meeting in my chiefdom. Despite being an opposition area, President Edgar Lungu has allowed you to come visit this area.
“Let me take this opportunity to express my concern over a number of issues and one of them is the stalled developmental projects in my chiefdom. We had a project of constructing houses for civil servants and road rehabilitation, but all these projects have stalled,” Chieftainess Shimukunami said.
In response, Mr Mwila said President Edgar Lungu was aware that a number of developmental projects have stalled and would put in place a task force to deal with the issue.
Chieftainess Shimukunami also requested for the delimitation of Lufwanyama constituency into two or three constituencies because in its current state, the constituency was too vast.
She said relevant authorities should seriously consider the delimitation of Lufwanyama constituency into two or three constituencies so that those who would be elected Members of Parliament (MP) would find it easy to visit their constituencies.
“Apart from stalled developmental projects., the other issue is the delimitation of Lufwanyama constituency into two or three constituencies so that those who would be elected Members of Parliament (MP) would find it easy to visit their constituencies.
“In its current vast state, it is difficult for the MP to visit or tour the whole constituency. So this issue should receive serious consideration,” She said.
