Brian Musonda: Dr. Chilufya Minister of Health, kindly take interest in this case, we are watching. We cannot afford to be losing lives negligently. Government spends a lot of money educating those personnel who must pay back in form of a good service to the general public. Those who are not called for that service better they are gotten rid of. It is not just about getting a salary and gossiping around, it about working!
Champo Ng’andwe: In Zambia, we have a problem. People who are in public service are so rude as if they work for free. Civil servants are so spoilt because they get enough salary compared to most African countries even the ones they call giants in Africa. It disheartens me. I wish we were a lot of Micheal Sata to put these people to task. Shame upon them. Why should we be begging for their services when they are trained and paid? Please, Zambians wake up and let us care for one another as brothers and sisters. Bring to task the management of that clinic. If I were their superior, I would demote them to rural clinics.
Wilfred Wilu Mweene: So sad my brother. This also happened to me in 2006. I lost my wife in similar circumstances at Livingstone General Hospital. Something must be done to stop this bad practice.
Alexandria Chota: Do not let this story die just here. Take it to every office you can think of until something is done. We have heard too many stories of such incidents. Maybe, it is time to start de-registering some mid-wives from practicing.
Sanfrossa Joy Alfreds: MHSRIP. Take legal action. It is a life that was lost due to negligence; something that would have been avoided. The problem with these our so-called First Level Hospitals/Hospital personnel is that they let students deal with critical conditions while they sit on to check weight and BP tables before they start chatting about what happened between Abby and Pragya in yesterday’s ZEE World Soap Twist of Fate while having tea with fritters. Is this what they are paid for? Shame!
Memory Ngelemina Chikama: My aunt also lost a child because the nurse did not know what to do when the baby failed to come out. The nurse run out leaving my aunt alone in the ward to go and call my grandma to come see what was happening and then later called the doctor but by the time the doc came who knew what to do, the baby had died. This my people happened at Ndola central Hospital
Isaac Chileshe: So sad! The question we must ask now is, these first level hospitals are they just buildings or they need to have all facilities in them? These midwives need to be properly trained before being given their practice certificates. We cannot be losing lives because of them.
Gwen Mulaisho: Oh no! That is sad. Fellow citizens, let us do something about this. Personally, I will take a step because I am a woman and who knows, one day I may find myself in the same situation. This case should not just end here bane.
Joseph Mumba: The only people who are not charged for negligence in this country are medical doctors and nurses. People from other different professionals have been charged, fired and prosecuted for negligence under the same laws of Zambia. But people from the medical field they seem to be untouchable and they have continued doing things with impunity. The Government has spoken and people have cried but no change. My condolences.
Lillian Lwenje: It is not just at the first level hospital even at the mighty UTH hospital it happens every day and people die. I am a surviving victim and I just thank God that he gave me another chance to live again. My appeal to the media; do not let this issue die quietly, let us make noise together so that these people can change their attitude. I’m so sad to hear this. It hurts to lose a mother while giving birth.
Gasper Kapandila: Those nurses and doctor must be charged for murder. The problem in this country is that we have a civil service which is lazy and only waiting to be paid at the month end. We need and must have a system where such negligent nurses and doctors are punished. A human being cannot die like a chicken or animal just because of stupidity. I have been to these GRZ clinics and hospitals and I wonder if there is anyone in-charge. The work culture is extremely bad. These people ought to know that they are NOT volunteers but are being paid. It is sad your sister died in such a manner caused by sheer stupidity and carelessness of these so called nurses and doctors.
Sonia Cebolo: I believe this story 100 percent; these nurses in government hospitals have very bad attitude and are very heartless. They just like killing innocent people every single day. A nurse or midwife should be caring and loving but nowadays what we have in their names are heartless and evil beings. You better do something, take them to court and sue the nurses so they can learn a lesson.
Daniel Kabwe Bwalya: This is what happens when somebody did nursing for the sake of employment. They do not care and only interested in monthly pay. Old nurses are the better than the modern divas and “yobalie” nurses.
Barbara Mbotwa Bwalya: It happened to me on my first pregnancy at UTH and it was twins. I almost died. It took a Catholic nun to notice me. The nurses were shouting at me. My dear sisters, nurses at the labour ward have very bad behaviour.
