GOVERNMENT has urged investors wishing to put their money in Zambia to respect labour laws and business environment.
Minister of labour and social securities, Joyce Simukoko, said Government would not allow investors to imposed laws from their countries on Zambia.
Ms. Simukoko said Government was mindful of certain investors who were not respecting labour laws, thereby causing friction with their employees.”
“As Government, we will not let investors impose laws from their countries on Zambia and therefore, we will not allow people to come and disobey the laws,” she said.
She was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when a group of Japanese investors from Be Forward Corporation paid a courtesy call on her.
Ms. Simukoko, however, applauded Be Forward for supplying genuine and affordable vehicles which provided an opportunity for a majority of Zambians to own cars.
She said Government was aware of the quality services being provided by the company.
Ms. Simukoko also applauded the company for its intentions to expand its business to other parts of Lusaka this year.
“The other challenge we have is that some investors do not speak English which is an official language in Zambia so that creates friction among the investors and the employees in terms of communication,” she said.
And Be Forward corporation representative, Shogo Nishimura, said the company would soon embark on selling car spare parts in Zambia.
Mr. Nishimura explained that the company was aware of the challenges its customers faced after buying their vehicles.
“We are opening branches on the Copperbelt this year and I am glad to note that the business environment in Zambia is perfect,
“We will soon start selling spare parts for our vehicles and ensure that they are also quality products. We know we have to be honest to our customers to avoid arguments with them,” he said.
