…They are both shallow and insincere
By AARON CHIYANZO
UPND should oust both Hakainde Hichilema and Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba if they are to leave a mark on the political scene and remain relevant to the nation, says the party’s former deputy spokesperson, Edwin Lifwekelo.
And Mr Lifwekelo said that the continued hallucination by the UPND leader, Mr Hichilema that the presidential election petition was still active in court was a ploy to buy time frustrated members that were fatigued with a failed project.
He insisted that not only Mr Mwamba, the vice president for politics, popularly known as GBM, should be sacked as demanded by some opposition leaders, but also Mr Hichilema.
Mr Lifwekelo, a senior Patriotic Front (PF) member warned that UPND would remain a scapegoat as long as it maintained shallow leaders at its helm.
He reiterated that it was all lies and an attempt to hoodwink Zambians to suggest that the petition was still active in the courts of law.
Mr Lifwekelo told the Daily Nation that most UPND members had lost confidence in Mr Hichilema’s dictatorial leadership even if they do not show it.
“The man is a small dictator who doesn’t want to hear about a convention. These are childish and divisive characters. Some of them think being fat qualify them to be President. It will be suicidal for Zambians to entrust GBM and HH with instruments of power in view of the revelations by Paradise papers,” he said.
Mr Lifwekelo disclosed that Mr Hichilema had fired or resigned over five vice presidents for simple reasons that he felt his throne was threatened.
“We had Simenda, Sichinga, Chisanga Patrick, Sakwiba Sikota, Richard Kapita and Canisius Banda,” he said.
Meanwhile, PF Mandevu constituency secretary, Lemmy Bwalya seconded the notion to drop the entire UPND leadership.
He charged that they were all birds of the same feather, denting the image of the opposition in Zambia.
Mr Bwalya said that opposition parties were supposed to offer checks and balances but that the UPND had proved to be irrelevant.
