THE anarchy which the UPND is pushing far is threatening the growth of the tourism and other viable sectors in the country as it has the potential to plunge the country into pandemonium, says 3rd Liberation Movement (3rd LM) president Enoch Tonga.

Mr Tonga said that the stance by the UPND not to accept the outcome of last year’s general elections now threatened economic growth of Zambia.

He said in an interview with Daily Nation that not accepting President Edgar Lungu as the duly elected President was tantamount to not regarding all Government institutions and officials.

Mr Tonga warned that such a stance had the potential to cause anarchy in Zambia hence scaring away tourists and potential investors.

He pointed out that if there was no President in Zambia, then there would be no ministers and other Government institutions which could only be operational with the sanction of the Head of State.

Mr Tonga wondered why the UPND had continued to recognize the vice president, the ministers and Government institutions if they did not recognize President Lungu.

“If the UPND MPs do not recognize President Lungu then it means they also do not recognize that there are ministers in place and other government institutions because we can only have these if there was a president in place.

“In parliament they will pose questions to individual ministers or the vice president and referring to them as such, but who appointed them if there is no President” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Tonga welcomed the move by Zambia Police not to grant the UPND permission to go ahead with their planned rally in Kanyama.

He said that the move was just another ploy to plunge the nation into chaos and instigate more divisions among Zambians.

Mr Tonga said that the UPND were up to no good and that they were looking for every opportunity they could get  to bring about confusion in Zambia.

He pointed out that the opposition UPND was exhibiting a high levels of hypocrisy because they were addressing their letter to the Inspector General who was appointed by the republican President.
