ZAMBIA stands on the threshold of a major breakthrough in investments from Poland, says Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) director-general Patrick Chisanga.
Mr Chisanga said most of the investors that came through were serious and aggressive and that some were already in talks with the agency for possible investments.
He was speaking in Lusaka when Honorary Consul to Zambia based in Poland, Bartosz Brusikiewicz, paid a courtesy call on him recently.
This was after the successful interactions with the Polish investors during their visit to explore investment and trade opportunities in Zambia.
“Zambia and Poland need strong economic relations which will result into synergies between Zambian and Polish companies for mutual benefit,” he said.
Mr Chisanga observed that Zambian embassies and consulates around the world should be used for economic diplomacy to propel the economic agenda of the country.
“ZDA’s primary objective is to foster economic growth and development by promoting trade and investment in Zambia through an efficient, effective and coordinated private sector-led economic strategy,” he said.
He pledged to work closely with the Honorary Consul in promoting Zambia’s investment and trade opportunities as well as possible joint ventures between Zambian and Polish investors.
Meanwhile, Mr Brusikiewicz affirmed his focus on economic diplomacy to facilitate economic partnerships between the two countries.
Mr Brusikiewicz pledged to work closely with ZDA in promoting Zambia’s investment opportunities in Poland.
The honorary consul was part of a delegation of Polish investors that came into the country to explore investment opportunities and business cooperation with Zambia.
The 24-member delegation comprised the Polish Chamber of Commerce, companies in the energy sector, agriculture sector, ICT, transport and logistics and government representatives.
The delegation was accompanied by the Polish Ambassador to Zambia who is based in Pretoria, Anna Raduchowska-Brochwicz.
