Zambia is under siege from the cartel which has teamed up with disgruntled political elements intent on plunging the nation into pandemonium. Government should not spare the efforts to hunt them down, 3rd Liberation Movement (3rd LM) president Enoch Tonga has warned.
Mr Tonga said that Government should intensify its efforts to clamp down on the cartel which is spreading a message of distraction as the general citizenry was no longer safe. This was being promoted by a vicious international media.
Mr Tonga warned that the disgruntled cartel, which he said had infiltrated the both the private and public service risked plunging the nation in turmoil.
He said in an interview with the Nation that the cartel really existed and that Government should take the matter seriously.
Mr Tonga charged that the recent attempt by the cartel to shut down production in the country was evidence enough that they were rooted with evil plans.
“The cartel is real and Government should not take it for granted. People are no longer safe because they cannot predict their next move. Recently they almost shut down production in the country when they cut down the ZESCO pylon. Is that not evidence enough?” he questioned.
Mr Tonga said that the cartel was almost in all the systems and that they were using experts to carry out their evil plans.
He wondered how unscrupulous people managed to vandalize a high voltage pylon in Kafue without being injured in the process.
Mr Tonga also questioned how ordinary people would have targeted the pylon supplying power to the economic zone of the country.
He charged that all the cartels were well calculated and that there was need for Government to recruit more intelligence officers.
Mr Tonga reiterated that there was need for Government to invest in proper intelligence systems if they were to guard against the schemes of the cartel.
“Government should invest more in intelligence so that they match up with the schemes of the cartel. The cartel is using experts as was seen in Kafue” he said.
