HOME Affairs Minister Stephen K a m p y o n g o ’ s aunt has challenged Senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka- Leya people of Kazungula to try and harm her nephew through undisclosed means. In a phone interview from Shiwang’andu yesterday, Mr. Kampyongo’s aunt Ndoloteya Shinga Kampyongo said her family is not afraid of any powers that Senior Chief Mukuni claimed to have gained from the seven nights he says he spent at the graveyard in pitch darkness.

In 2017 when UPND president Hakainde Hichilema was incarcerated for treason, Senior Chief Mukuni said he was not afraid of going to prison because he slept at the cemetery for seven nights in pitch darkness where Mr. Kampyongo cannot survive even for two minutes. And on Tuesday this week, the traditional leader told Mr. Kampyongo, whom he referred to as “young man” in an online post, to release his wife Veronica within and not later than 48 hours or else he shall blame himself and those that sent him.

But Ms. Kampyongo said when Senior Chief Mukuni slept at the graveyard he knew what he wanted from there and it is not the minister who sent him. She said Senior Chief Mukuni spent the seven nights at the cemetery alone and it was not Mr. Kampyongo who slept there. Ms. Kampyongo said if Senior Chief Mukuni is man enough he should dare to tamper with her nephew’s life and once he does that he is going to see who is who. She said Mr. Kampyongo is not Senior Chief Mukuni’s son and the latter went to the graveyard alone.

She said even if Senior Chief Mukuni brags to have undisclosed powers he is not God and that the Kampyongo family can shock him by taking away the said powers from him. Ms. Kampyongo, popularly known as Bana Nshibita in Chinsali, said Senior Chief Mukuni must realise that the abduction of Pheluna and Milton Hatembo is more painful to the Hatembo family than the chief whose wife has just been charged in connection with the kidnapping. She said the traditional leader must not think that he is clever and can threaten anyone and that should he dare to harm Mr. Kampyongo he will feel the wrath of his family.
