By PRISCA LUMINGU

FIVE traditional leaders in Central Province have pledged their continued support to President Edgar Lungu and his administration.

The traditional leaders have also assured President Lungu of their vote during the August 12, 2021 elections.

They said what President Lungu had achieved in a short period he had been in office was unprecedented.

The chiefs said they did not want to be left behind hence they would continue to work with the PF government.

The chiefs who  included Chief Chitambo, Chief Chibale, Chief Kabamba, Chieftainess Serenje, Chief Mailo Chisomo said this when President Lungu paid a courtesy call on them before the official opening of the visitors information centre at the David Livingstone memorial national site in Chitambo yesterday.

And speaking on behalf of the traditional leadership, Chief Chitambo said they would continue to work with the PF government as they are confident that President Lungu would bounce back in office after the August 12 general elections.

“We are happy that you have come to visit us, you are the second President to come here after Dr Kenneth Kaunda. I am very pleased that you have come to see us,” Chief Chitambo said.

He said David Livingstone’s burial site was a bush and now through President Lungu it had been turned into a visiting site.

Chief Chitambo said traditional leaders in the province appreciated the development Government has delivered to the people.

Chief Chitambo also requested President Lungu to ensure that the area was connected to electricity as it would enhance development.

The traditional leadership also commended the head of state for showing leadership in the fight against coronavirus.

And President Lungu thanked the traditional leaders for the love they have continued to show him and his administration.

He also assured the chiefs that he was committed to ensure that Zambia is connected to ensure that all the people had a quality life.

“For me it’s about opening up Chitambo, opening up Serenje, opening up Zambia so that we can all have high quality life.
