SABOI WARNS ‘REBELLIOUS’ MEMBERS

By KALOBWE BWALYA

NATIONAL Democratic congress (NDC) will not tolerate gross indiscipline by any of its members who are giving contradictory statements regarding the endorsement of President Edgar Lungu.

NDC acting president, Saboi Imboela, said she was disappointed that Mpulungu chairman, Chrispine Kalumba, could disregard the party decision to endorse President Lungu’s candidature.

Ms Imboela was reacting to Mr Kalumba, who said the party in the district would not support President Lungu and the PF in the forthcoming general elections

In an interview, Ms Imboela explained that the decision to endorse President Lungu was arrived at after the central committee agreed to support the current Head of State in the August 12 elections.

He said senior members of the party agreed before the announcement about the decision to endorse President Lungu.

Ms Imboela explained that all leadership structures in the 10 provinces were informed and consulted about the issue.

She has since warned that the party would not allow unruly behaviour by some members who had been paid by other political parties to endorse their candidature.

Ms Imboela said there was need to restore discipline and sanity the party and that the top brass would not allow any member to disrespect the decision made by the top most organ.

She also said some other political parties had been trying to bribe the party members while others had been paid so that they could defect from the party.

She said she was very much aware of such manoeuvres and therefore the party would not allow such elements wanting to bring disunity among party members.
