Don’t be a hypocrite, FRED M’membe told

FRED M’membe should stop being a hypocrite and shedding crocodile tears about the death of the first republican President, Kenneth Kaunda, says former MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe.

Maj. Kachingwe said Dr. M’membe as proprietor of the defunct Post Newspaper discredited President Kaunda and tormented him needlessly for a long time and should not today pretend to have positive feelings about the late president.

He said the tears being shed by Mr. M’membe are crocodile tears because he dehumanized the late President using the newspaper.

“Those are crocodile tears, he discredited and dehumanised President Kaunda through his Post Newspaper,” he said. Maj. Kachingwe was reacting to Dr M’membe weeping over the death of Dr. Kaunda under the   pretext that he was his mentor He said Dr M’membe as owner of the Post Newspaper allowed the publication of a lot of articles that dehumanized President Kaunda especially during the run up to the 1991 general elections.

Maj. Kachingwe said the grief being shown by Dr M’membe, who is Socialist Party leader, was nothing but pretence because he was a bitter critic of the late President
