HEAVY DUTY FORMER STUDENTS CRY FOR DIPLOMAS

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

THE first ever class of heavy equipment repair in Zambia has threatened to sue the Northern Technical College (NORTEC) for not issuing them with diplomas since 2017.

The former students complained that efforts to get their diplomas had failed despite many efforts.

The students who sought anonymity said the college asked them to put their complaint in writing when they went to enquire about the progress concerning the matter seven months ago.

The students were speaking in separate interviews in Kitwe.

The former students complained that the problem was affecting them as they were missing out on employment opportunities stating that those that managed to get jobs were missing out on promotions because their employers demanded for the diplomas.

They said it was unfair that despite having paid a lot of money during the training, the college had not shown any zeal to sort the matter out.

Efforts to get a comment from the college failed as the principal was reportedly unwell while contact numbers for the examinations office went unanswered.
