MAIZE FLOOR PRICE, EARLY FARMING INPUT DISTRIBUTION CHEERS EAST FARMERS
Farmers in Eastern Province have lauded the government for rewarding their hard work with a good maize floor price.
The farmers are equally happy that farming inputs have consistently been delivered on time for them to adequately prepare their fields.
The farmers notes that this year’s bumper harvest would not have been possible had it not been for the government’s commitment and effective measures to deliver inputs on time.
Mr Mwale, a farmer in Vubwi has since successfully cultivated 38 hectares of maize as a result of early distribution of farming inputs coupled with the government’s favourable policy environment.
Mr Mwale in an interview attributed his success to the Patriotic Front’s agricultural policies that have resulted in the unprecedented early distribution of farming inputs.
Mr Mwale is happy that the government has equally increased the maize floor price to K150 per 50 Kilogram bag which will enable him to support his children’s education once he sells his produce.
He said the selling price of K150 for maize and K500 for soya beans is an empowerment gift to farmers and will change their lives.
Mr Mwale was speaking when Neria’s Investments General Manager Mr Martin Chaikatisha visited his farm to appreciate the yield and to also highlight more on the 2021/22 distribution exercise.
Mr Chaikatisha described it as an honour to be part of the success story, having been consistent with the distribution exercise.
He said it is good that farmers are yielding life changing benefits from increased crop production.
Meanwhile, Vubwi district commissioner Mrs Enelesi Banda has thanked the PF government for empowering farmers in a bid to promote food security in the nation.
