VEFs urged to be strategic

Serenje District Electoral Officer ( DEO) Caroline Mphande has Called upon the newly trained Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) in the district to be strategic as they carry out their duties amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Mrs. Mphande advises the VEFs in the area to be weary of the fact that this year’s election will be held amid the COVID- 19 Pandemic hence the need for them to be strategic as they offer voter education to voters in communities to avoid the spread of the virus.

“  We are amidst COVID-19 , you need to be VEFs that are strategic in your approach to providing voter education. Remember to aways mask up and to avoid making your groups large. Mrs. Mphande said.

ZANIS reports that the District Electoral Officer said this at Atha Lodge during the close of the five day training programme.

“ You need to operate in situation that that you are none partisan. We don’t want to receive reports that the VEFs you sent in the field have become politicians,” Mrs. Mphande warned.
Mrs Mphande reminded them that they are the ambassadors of the ECZ and as such should perform their role keeping in mind that they have been sent by the commission.

One of the participants Luyando Mulebwente thanked ECZ for the training.
“ Thank you for trainers and District Voter Education Committee members for imparting us VEFs with information that we will share with the electorates in the wards,”  Ms. Mulebwente said.
