LUSAKA High Court Judge Sharon Newa has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 60 years imprisonment with hard labour for having carnal knowledge of his daughter.
Particulars of the offence are that Benjamin Mukobela on December 1, 2018 unlawfully did have carnal knowledge of his daughter aged between three and four at that time. Mukobela was charged with the offence of Incest.
He begged for leniency saying that in his 10 months stay in prison, he had time to reflect on his actions which he regretted.
The convict also said that he was a law abiding citizen before committing the offence.
But Ms Justice Newa in her judgement said one can imagine what the girl felt, especially that the person who took away her innocence was the biological father.
She said Mukobela breached the duty of trust that he owed to the daughter, who looked up to the father for protection.
