UNITED Nations International Youth Conference and Peace Ambassador Moody Mwiya has condemned the trend by some parents using their children to sell various mechandize on the streets.
Mr Mwiya observed that the trendy was common nearly in all towns and that it must be stopped.
He encouraged parents who own businesses to change their mind-set of using their children to sell goods and other commodities on the streets.
In an interview in Livingstone, Mr Mwiya observed that some parents were taking advantage of the prolonged closure of schools which has seen children stay at home longer than expected.
He said some children had become vulnerable, making money on behalf of their families while parents stayed home.
Mr Mwiya called on various stakeholders to come up with a mechanism on how this trend could be halted.
He added that most of the children were found on the streets not at their own will but were being forced by their parents.
Mr Mwiya said parents should utilise the closure of schools to build their relationships with the children while they are home and not exploiting them for harsh work.
