VIDEO VIOLENCE: PLEA SET IN PROPOSING VIOLENCE CASE

THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has set tomorrow (Friday) as the date for plea in a case five men have been charged with proposing violence or breaches of the law to assemblies.

The accused persons are Kassim Lungu, 22, carpenter, Joseph Junior Besa, 20, taxi driver, Justin Chanda, 20, carpenter, Joseph Chanda, 20 brick layer, and James Sikalumbi, 19, all of Chazanga compound in Lusaka.

Particulars of offence are that on an unknown date but between January 1, 2019 and July 20, 2021 the five jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons proposed violence to the public by means of video capturing themselves while armed with machetes and wooden planks.  They were scheduled to take plea yesterday before Magistrate Jenipher Bwalya but they were not brought before court after which the matter was adjourned to tomorrow July 30, 2021. The accused persons are still remanded in custody.
