POLICE SEIZE GUNS FROM CADRES IN MONGU (audio)


POLICE have seized two AK-47 Assault Rifles with 27 rounds of live ammunition, 16 live ammunition for a shot gun, 30 pamphlets of seditious material and 4,800 cash from suspected cadres in Mongu following a search operation they conducted Wednesday night.


Deputy police spokesperson Danny Mwale stated that nine people suspected to be cadres of a named party were also apprehended in the process.


And Mwale has disclosed that four UPND cadres have been arrested in Mansa after they abducted seven fellow UPND cadres in Kabuta area in a bid to stop to their planned defection to PF.


“Preliminary investigations revealed that UPND members gathered at the house in Spark Extension with the view of defecting from their party to the Patriotic Front, Upon receiving the report of their defection , the suspected UPND security followed them and started beating them up. They later took them to their campaign house in Kabuta area and lawfully confined them against their wish,” he said.


“Police managed to rescue the victims and conveyed them to Mansa Central Police Station where they complained of having been assaulted. Money amounting to K1000 including their mobile cellular phone were grabbed them. Police arrested the assailants only identified as Emmanuel Kasote, aged 47, Ernest Mwansa, aged 27, Kingfred N’andu aged, 40 and Mufaya Kelly aged, 29
